Archipelago Cinema
Architecture firm Ole Scheeren is interested in creating alternative realities. To that end, they recently introduced a floating cinema during the Film on the Rocks festival in Thailand. Named Archipelago Cinema, the project is situated between two towering rocks in a calm bay, and was constructed using the same techniques with which fisherman build lobster farms. The rafts were built using recycled materials and tied together to resemble a grouping of islands. Attendees were ferried to the glowing rafts under the cover of darkness during the final day of the festival. Ole Scheeren plans for the archipelago to be moved to new locations so that others can enjoy the magic of film while floating on the sea.
